I am also a member of Les Clefs d’Or, an organization of professional hotel concierges. There are over 4,000 concierges in this prestigious federation, and I am proud to be the only member in the Atlantic Region.

Guests often inquire about the many unique shopping opportunities that the city can offer. Halifax has plenty of great shopping and there are many places to pick up that special gift or souvenir. A few of my favourites:

The Sea House – located on the waterfront in Bishop’s Landing, this souvenir shop has something for everyone. Branded sweaters, magnets and postcards, maple candy and home decor. If you need a souvenir, this is the place! 1479 Lower Water Street

Taz Records – a “must” for the music lover. This well-known record store has a selection of records, vintage 8 tracks and CDs. You’ll find posters and retro t-shirts for your favourite band too. Taz has a great collection of the many local musicians that the region is known for. 1521 Grafton Street

Sattva Boutique – a quaint little shop with a focus on Canadian designers, ethically made and environmentally friendly. Clothing, foot wear and jewelry for her. 2453 Agricola Street

The Independent Mercantile – a beautiful locally-owned shop for home decor, edible treats and one-of-a-kind souvenirs. 2091 Gottingen Street

Dugger’s – the city’s best shop for menswear. Top notch service and brands like Bugatti, Canada Goose and Goorin Bros sets Dugger’s apart from the others. They even have a humidor with a selection of fine cigars. 5409 Spring Garden Road
